Im looking at buying the vortech entry level supercharger and I'm doing as much research as I can. I want to be able to tune it myself but I'm not sure what will be the best way to go about it. So far I think the PMS tuner will be best for what I want. Is there any suggestions on any other kind of similar products? I know about MS but from what I understand that is a whole new ecu which I don't need.

PMS will work fine. Do you have a tuner in your area that works with it ? I have one in my car . I have driven my car over 100 miles one way in a day trip with it. I have done mustang week.. Turned a high 10 sec pass with it as well on a baby soft tune. What is the engine specs? What type of injector you plan to run?

The PMS is probably the easiest for the DIY'er. It also has the least features. For your needs it should be adequate though. You've also got Megasquirt as an option Pricey, but very powerful. Then there's always the Moates Quarterhorse route (which I have). Equally as powerful as the Megasquirt, though not as expensive. Both of the latter have a pretty steep learning curve. I still don't know what the hell I'm doing with mine.

I have explorer heads and intake and an e cam. Since I'm going to tune it I might as well put 42# injectors in. And I'm sure there is a tuner around but I want to learn how to do it myself. I'll look at the quarter horse also. Thanks for giving me ideas. I also have an off topic question. Is there power to gain with a tuner on a stock fox or at least one with HCI? I'm asking this because maybe I could practice on mine before I add the supercharger.

I'm sure you could find a bit of power in the car but for the price of the tuner its negligible in my opinion .

If you go the blower route - 42s , adjustable fpr , pro m meter , aeromotive 340 intake will get the job done . The Pms comes with instructions that give you the basics on tuning and doing the timing and fuel tables etc .

There's value in tuning a stock fox body....if for no other reason, than drivability alone. The programming of the stock A9L ECU sucks.

Do a Google search on A9L2 and read over it some. You'd be surprised how much drivability can improve with just changing to this calibration.

I looked more into the megasquirt and I might consider it. I think it would be good to learn a system that could be used on any other vehicle. The quarterhorse seems good too and cheaper. If I got the quarterhorse would I still have to get a maf to match my injectors or would I just be able to find the biggest one possible and "calibrate" it through the quarterhorse?

For the quarter horse question you should contact Willie Lynch at dirtydirtyracing.com. They sell and tune them...also he can Dyno tune. They're located near Blacksburg, VA. He's dealt well with me over the years.

I'm running a MSPNP2 now. Just learning the system...but our resident guru is a91what.... This computer is great but it does take a lot of reading and studying. You get out of it just as much as you put into it. He also might build one for you for the right price. I bought my system plug and play from diyautotune. It was the expensive way out.

You'll learn there are people here that absolutely bend over backwards to help folks here. Like a91what, davedacarpainter, and the great jrichker himself...among others [emoji102]

For information on the mega squirt you should visit our help thread. The megasquirt tunerstudio help thread can be found right here on stangnet. I have a few tuning videos uploaded on there as well I go through a lot of the basics of tuning with a megasquirt I have some more on the way
