I'm trying to decide on what supercharger I should get. My plan for this summer is to build an engine, maybe do a 331 stroker. But, I have always wanted a supercharger. The thing is i'm always on a budget, so money is 100% a factor on all of my decisions. Also the car is my daily driver! So here is my idea, buy the standard v-1 vortech kit then buy a few bolt-ons. Start on my engine project on the side. Or should I just go with the v-2 kit and wait on building an engine or getting a rebuild? Another question I have is if the v-1 kit can be upgraded later and how much that is. I go to school full time and have only been working part time so I plan on saving up more money for other mods, etc. Basically, im on a budget but do want to be fast but its also my daily driver. What do you guys think about a 331 with the v-1? Will the v-1 be good enough on my stock or eventually 331? I just want to get some opinions or other ideas.... Thanks!

Save up and get the better blower from the start. Even if it is cheap to upgrade later, that is still extra money spent that could go elsewhere. I bought my powerdyne because I was on a budget and even though I love it, I limited myself right up front because i wanted to save "a little" money. If your stock motor is in good shape, use it for a while. Get a good tune and use the better blower. Then you can save for that stroker. Just my opinion. Good Luck!

id just save up and get a turbo. the turbo alone will get the motor to the 500hp range with the right boost level, cooler and fuel system. why get a sc and a stroker kit when the turbo will cost less and make the same power?

the v2 isnt much of an upgrade from the v1. they both have a max output of 1000cfms and a max hp rating of 680hp. a t-trim would be an upgrade but a small one. it flows 1200cfms and is good till 825hp

I'm running a 331/ T-trim Vortech...in a word...AWESOME!! Let me know if you are interested in more specifics, or what it took me to get this thing running right, I could save you a lot of late nights and banging your head against the wall!

Save your coin and do it the way you want it to be in the end. I built my 347 and then decided it was'nt quick enough and to redo it was costly, injectors, supercharger, lower compression pistions, mas air, throtle body, ect. Just buy parts here and there and wait till you have what it takes to put it to gether.

RBRANDX, I’ve been thinking about it and I think I will build a 331 on the side. I was thinking about getting a sportsman block and working from there. I do want to supercharge so was going to get that now and put it on just for kicks while building the motor. I know most people say to get it done right the first time, and that I will eventually want more power, etc. But for now this is my daily driver and will probably be my daily driver for a few more years while finishing up school. I think a T-trim is way out of my league lol. I’m interesting in more specifics, but remember I’m on a budget. I know I could just keep on saving, but I have been driving my almost all stock GT for 5 years now, I want to start working on it! So, lets say I just save up while building the 331 on the side, should I even consider getting a V-1 at all. Also, how do paxton’s compare to vortech?

Any other opinions? Ideas? Your help is appreciated…..

Need opinions/help.......... I think im going to go the 331 route. What kit do you guys suggest? Have you seen the kits on ebay? Are the eagle kits any good? What should i be looking for as far as pistons and rods, etc? Need helps on this, thanks guys. Also, what do you think, should i get a sportsam block, i have seen some being sold for a grand. I also found a website selling 331 short blocks for 1899, heres what it says about it- what do you guys think?

- Our 331/347 Performance Short Block is the perfect short block for your high 9 (in lower weight applications) to low 11 second cars. This bottom end is balanced to 28oz and ready for all the abuse the block can handle. Whether you are planning a high rpm n/a setup, a lot of nitrous, or lots of boost, this short block is the one for you! We don't have a 4340 crank/rod roller 302 short block because ITS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY! We only offer the 4340 stuff for the 4 bolt Dart block and sportsman blocks since the stock roller block is always the weak point regardless of the rotating assembly inside of it. This short block is designed without the wristpin in the oil groove for the ultimate in reliability. Don't hesitate to ask us about custom internal parts for your exact needs, wants, and application!
