quick question. I have a Vortech S trim and the air filter is routed thru the fenderwell and sits pretty low near the front bumper. Can you drive supercharged cars in the rain and not worry about hydrolock,etc... It just seems like that if i was driving in a downpour that the filter would get soaked since its so low near the ground and water would get into the engine after a while. I have an appt to get tuned this saturday and my luck, its supposed to pour all week. Whats everybodies take on this?

i cant drive mine in the rain. i did remove part of the innerfender liner when i installed my IC. the car will run fine with a wet filter as long as you dont get into boost. i couldnt figure out what was wrong with mine the first time i drove it in the rain. i pulled the filter when i got to work and there was about 2" of water in it.

I am just going to pray it doesnt rain on saturday. At least for the couple hours i'll be out. I usualy never drive my car when its raining out, esp with drag radials, nothing good can come of it.

rain is fine, its the standing water that will get ya. just dont ride in the ruts. I have had mine stutter for a while when the MAF got wet. I N-rigged a cover out of a 2L coke bottle that slid up over the filter from the bottom. Had 3 small holes in the bottom of it so it wouldn't hold water if it somehow got in. No problems since.

Thats a good idea, i might temporarily do that for saturday in case it rains. How did you attach it to the filter and does it still get enuf airflow and not suffocate the engine?

Different car, but I got stuck in one of our regular afternoon downpours down here in Tampa a few years ago. Sucked up a pretty good amount of water into my Z28 through my procharger. Standing water sucks.
