So I'm sad, I looked all around Kenne Bell's site last night and was really hoping they made a SC for the 3.8, but alas - they don't, and I don't know if I really want to drop the cash on a motor swap (although, I do know a mechanic who'd do all the actual labor free, and I can get a 4.6+6spd for next to nothing, the rest of the parts would kill me), i was going to get a 4.2 stroker kit from rpm, but - it looks like once i do that my options for power adders is still going to be whoa small, any ideas besides biting the bullet and making the swap?

I'll just throw this quesiton in this thread and hope worked or someone else comes back - is there a reason NOT to put IRS (as in from a cobra) in a v6 as part of building the rear end?

Yeah, you don't need the IRS. It's for cornering and this and that... mainly if you are going to be racing alot of road corses then the IRS would be good to have, but just haveing it on a V6 supercharged 320rwhp daily driver, then it's more or less a waste of time and money. You can buy some good springs, shocks, struts, CC plates, subframes, strut tower brace and some control arms you'll be just as happy and it'll be cheaper than swaping in a 8.8 rear end from a '03-'04 cobra + the IRS aswell.

If you really want some power and save some money look here www.tmaturbo.com nothing but V6 Mustang turbo kits and there about 25%+ cheaper than going supercharger. I'll post some pics later on tonight or earlier tomorrow of what I just got *shh, it's secret*

Hmm... I was looking at the kits offered on tmaturbo.com, and they seem to leave a lot of stuff out for your $2800.

Some things not offered in the 5psi kit, which is the base kit:

The rest of the exhaust system.
Intercooler.
CPU.
Upgraded fuel system - FMU.
Guages

Also, by the pics on the site, looks like you're sucking air in from the engine compartment - no MAF, intake pipe, or sensor.

These would all be needed is you were to go over 5psi - which, in my opinion, everyone would want to do. Plan on spending an addiditon $1500 to make the kit fully functional beyond the 5psi base kit.

I'd do some more research before buying this kit as is.

Well, one thing to remember whenever you perform an engine swap - titleability (if that's a word).

Some states require you to jump through hoops after an engine swap has been done. Especially on newer cars (i.e., 2000+). For obvious reasons such as matching VIN, safety, emissions and not to mention resale value (though that's of more a personal obstical).

BUT if you can do it in expensively and won't have the previously mentioned headaches, then go for it. A stock 4.6L is not going to work as hard as a blown 3.8L (less taxation - more life; why do you think N/A motors are still the major sellers in the U.S. - but that's another topic for discussion) and I would venture to say the TOTAL cost would be very close.

Something else to think about - selling your 6.

I don't know how old your 3.8L Mustang is or what you have done to modify it but if it's 40-60 more HP your after then you could probably sell your 6 and buy a decent stock 4.6L for next to nothing - considering the current price for a gallon of gas. Then, as time and money permits, modifiy your new(er) 4.6L.

Just some thoughts...

All very true.

The rest of the exhaust system... you can use your own one you have now.
Intercooler is an add on for like 300$
Those are designed to run on your stock fuel system. But if you are worried or want to run more boost you can swap in an SVT focus fuel pump & injectors & flash your ECU (he sells the X-cal tuner) & get a dyno tune. Guages, he doesn't offer because theres to many different variations of them and you can get them from a local Autozone or Advanced autoparts. The MAF he sells from SCT... I don't know about that, that should be in there though, might just be the way they installed it.

For the most part those are simple things to fix... although I would recommend getting the headers, dump/down pipes, intercooler pipes all powder coated or jett hott coated for the heat. Other than that it's all an easy fix.
