i know this has been talked about alot... and was hoping to get some answers and also for some people to go into detail about it... also making it a sticky!

My ?'s

I have 2,200 dollars and trying to figure out if i want to supercharge it or not
...... motor really is bone stock other then exhaust...

Whats the best kit to get for around 1500 dollars? Who to go with Vortec or powerdyne? i think its called...

Could a stock 5.0 handle the boost just fine? Or will it blow if i dont beef up the inerals at all?

Whats the FMU do? i hear all the time drop the FMU and dont use it? whats its point and why is it included in the kits?

just want some people to go into some details about supercharging a 5.0 pros cons... what needs to be done first before you strap on the charger? any help thanks!

For 1,500 your better off with 2k in a h/c/i setup. Or a used blower. The cheap blowers don't add much at all, I'd put it into motor or step up to a bigger blower. People do add them pretty often to stock motors though, but I reccomend at least a intake if you do it.

Get the SC-Trim or the Novi 1000. Both great kits. I bolted up the SC-Trim for 1,800$ with a completly stock motor and was rewarded with 262rwhp (272rwhp after a tune on the FMU). I still have the same supercharger now pushing 10psi with the mods in my sig and my 122k mile shortblock hasn't a hint of dying YET. Don't touch the motor or supercharger pullies unless u plan on also doing injectors. Make sure your car has a good tune up on it. Get a 255lph fuel pump for safety.

Summary..

Get either one of the ones I recommended, get a 255lph in-tank fuel pump, bolt them up, and have fun!

Agree with what was said. However, i, personally, would go used and pick up an s-trim for about $2000. Even new, you can get them from around $2300 i think. Its a better package since you'll get the BTM and inline pump. That stuff will work well together. Throw in a powerpipe and you'll make some really nice gains altogether. If you decide to upgrade from there, 255lph intank and injectors are the next step.

arent u supposed to supercharge a stock 5.0? Like what else would u need? even the Vortech site looks at stock engines, when I emailed them they said I wouldnt need heads or a cam or anything else.... so I dunno

yes, lots of the kits are made for stock engines, but that does not mean you cannot put them on a modified engine
