Does anyone what would be better for my 99 gt automatic? I am getting 4.30 gears installed and I need to no would I be better off just ordering a superchip for my setup or get a superchip max microtuner and tune my car myself? I see that the tuner is a little more but would I get the same performance gain tuning my car or going with a superchip? Thanks!!

i have the superchip reflasher. it rules. it set all the shift points perfectly, and recalibrated my speedo for my 4.10 gears. :nice: :nice:

With any chip or tuner, autos will get the biggest bang for the buck. However, if you are changing gears (as I did) and want your sppedo calibrated with a 5 speed, the SCT tuner is a good option. You are going to pay $100 anyway to have the speedo fixed.

In my case, the SCT Flash Tuner was a no brainer $400 investment since you can have it reprogrammed easily for future mods and will work for a dyno tune. That is what you are really paying for. Otherwise, you are dumping $300 (remember the speed cal is $100) for what? 10 hp or so. The car runs much better and my fuel economy went up. I put almost 300 miles on a tank now and I NEVER got close to that before. That makes up for paying for higher octane.

www.modulardepot.com sells the SCT stuff. Besides calibrating the gears, you will see at least 8 HP to the rear (that's very conservative), but as mush as 15 hp. Also, the SCT Flasher is a custom tune that can be easily changed as your car grows/changes. You can even be emailed new tunes down the road if you have the cable/software package that has just been released.

Besides allowing for gear calibration, the max microtuner also stiffens up your shifts (quicker shifts), and allows for changing the shift points at WOT, and can perform basic diagnostic functions (reads trouble codes). Since you already have calibration for your gears, I would consider a in shop dyno tune. However if there is no shop near you, the next best thing would be a programmer/reflasher. :nice:

I got 8.5WHP and 12WTQ with SCT just by bumping my timing. It also fixed my gear issue, and made sure the MILs was not coming back.

The gain was through out the power band. My trap speed jumped from a 101 to a mid 102MPH.

Big time thumbs up.

FYI my car is almost stock. Gears, pullies and exaust.

I just found out that there is a dyno shop not far from me. I guess they can do a dyno tune for around $360 thats including the chip. Would that be the way to go? Will I get a little more hp doing that vs the tuner?
