Hello all! I tried to tune my 1998 GT vert today with my new Superchips Microtuner and I got an error message. The tuner said it had a "Type 8" error and to call Superchips. I am way bummed as it is Sunday and I really wanted to get it retuned today. Does anyone know what this error code means? I saw that "Stimmler" had the same experience and nobody responded to his post. Help us out here! Thanks!

Did you buy the tuner new?

Yes, I did buy the tuner new. After my post, I did some looking around on the net and found a post on modular depot that Stimmler had posted. A tech there answered that he should put back the fuse for the fuel pump and it should work. I followed those instructions and got the retune completed. I was very nervous about leaving the fuel pump on, but it seemed to work just fine. There was some concern about damage if there is a leaky fuel injector, but the car did not go "boom" when I started it. It seems to pull much harder now! Thanks for responding!

The Owner's Manual shows the EEC and fuel pump fuse positions as swapped. When you took out the fuel pump fuse, according to the Owner's Manual, you were actually taking out the EEC fuse. The flasher could not communicate with the EEC! "AndrewWOT" posted about this on MD.
