Surging idle and exhaust spits wet black build up on ground

I have been trying to chase down my problem for about a month and finally go my car started after i swapped out my carbon fouled plugs. I thought that would have done the trick with the regulator and MAP. Car fired up, but it started surging and then leveled out. Once I put the car in gear and started to surge really bad and then died out. I got out and I saw black wet spots on the ground right below my exhaust? Any idea what the problem might be?

that is just carbon mixed with water....as for the surg......check your TPS if that doesnt help reset your comupter.

Have you run codes??Or a recent lower intake swap???I had crap in exhaust for awhile after upper and lower swap cause I got crap in ports ect!!!!!Need for info for surg problem???????

One of them is IAC right???That damn thing seems to involve 90% of idle problems!!!!!!!Clean the air charge sensor the one in front coming out of lower intake on right.Next to #5 injector???95 fuel pump related???

there are many threads on here that involve idle and surge youll be idle surge certified by the time you fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah..well i replaced the IAC not to long ago and cleaned it last week. Maybe the POS advanced auto part went bad. I think I will just roll and get another one..and if it doesn't fix the problem will take it bac

you know about the upside down install thing right???The in port is on the right and out is left on non ford!!!!!!!!!!!diff size for on and out or front of throttle blade and back side of throttle blade.

exactly where i was going with my question. i did not know it was a blanket thing, but know of a brand or two that does require upside down installation.

Ok..I went outside and turned the IAC. The car idle smoothly, but at around 1500 RPM-2000 RPM and wouldn't come down..but it had a static idle. When I couldn't even turn it down with the idle screw...pretty much came all the way out. When I changed the IAC back the way I had it, it would surge and then die on me. Any ideas? It ran fine when I had it on the normal way a few weeks back for about4 months. If i had it on the wrong way would it do that for that long of a period?

I experienced the same problems on a new IAC also. I ended up swapping another one on there and the problem is fixed. I tried turning it upside down like you did and the same symptoms happened to me. Like bryanrevans said, that IAC is involved in idling problems most of the time. I would try cleaning the MAF and throttle body also.

egr valve is fine..just replaced it and no egr codes. I am going to try a new IAC valve tomorow.

Hey...i just replaced my coolant sensor and I think that was the problem. When i pulled my old coolant sensor it was black and looked like it was falling apart. I put a new one in and it started up and drove alright. My idle is much better, but when I come to a stop it will feel like it is failing out. I am going to replace my IAC with OE part and not of that advanced auto parts stuff. I will keep you posted.

Still a little surging going on on a cold start. I just checked my EEC and it is A9L so it is a MAF computer and I have no idea why the intake vacuum was connected to my BAP/MAP..maybe that is what code 22 was. I will make sure I plug the intake vacuum hose and leave the nipple on the BAP/MAP open and unplugged. Am I right in thinking that the vacuum line to the BAp could that be a reason for my code 22?
