I was at the strip tonight and before I went for my third run my idle started suring from idle to 1500 to dead, and it did it a few times, having to restart my car 4 times before my run. And when I would hit the gas, there was a horrible lag before it would rev up, and the same thing happened when i launched, it lagged like hell and bogged down. what the hell is all this????

Heat maybe. One of the times I went out to the track last summer, I let my brother make a pass (BIG NO-NO!!) and it was running so hot after that one, that the idle would surge real bad, and it would have trouble revving. After a little cool-down period, it was back to normal.

it has done the lag thing before but very briefly, without the other symptoms that happened at the track though.

I'd just start with the easy stuff. Pull codes and check electrical connectors to rule out a sensor problem. And then verify spark (wires, correct timing) and fuel. What & when was the last change you made to anything under the hood?

It's probably something simple. Diagnosing over the 'net, however, is hard.

well the other month I had a tune up, new plugs, cap, and rotor, and a new water pump, timing chain, and timing cover put in. so I dont think that is an issue, and I do not have a code scanner.

Code scanners are pretty cheap, good investment, if you got a tune up, I didn't see but you could try a new fuel filter, I would try to run codes, chk for any vacuum leaks, exh leaks, maybe clean the maf.
