I am really new to the mustang world so be kind. I was looking at my rear suspension and it has the usual up and down strut but then there is another (shock?) angled back. Can you get an aftermarket one? And is that there for better traction off the line? Sorry I ment to get a pic but it is dark and cold :p

Those are called "Quad Shocks" they are a band-aid for the factory weak upper control arms. They help out on keeping the car from wheel hopping or side to side sloppiness in corners. With the addition of aftermarket upper control arms you can delete the quad shocks. My cars quad shocks have been taken off for a year now and no problems. But for aftermarket quad shocks bilstein makes some for $170 a pair, koni makes some and so does kyb. I think that is it. But if you drag race your car, you will eventually bust both the quad shocks. Mine were busted.
