Hello guys!!! New to the site and to the Cobra. Just bought a 97' Cobra convertible this week. I was basically looking for a project car to piddle with in my shop, and it appears thats exactly what I got. The motor and transmission are both very strong, however the suspension is a diffrent issue. The car was lowered sometime back and the owner did not know how much or with what kind of springs. The shocks and struts are just like not having any. I even scaped on a speed bump last night. Without spending a small fortune what shocks and springs should I go with? I won't be doing any drag racing or road course racing, just piddling on the street with a camaro or trans am from time to time. I like the lowered look but not scaping the pavement. Also when I jump on it pretty hard the back end feels like it shifts to the right a little. Could this be control arm bushing issues on the rear end? What are the best replacement uppers and lowers for the rear. After I get the suspension issues straight I'll be bugging you guys about engine mods, it is bone stock and even has the stock air breather. Thanks in advance and remember I'm new to all this and am just learning everything about the Cobra. My plans are to restore this car one piece at a time over several years and hopefully I'll have a masterpiece in the end. Thanks guys.....

Go to the Ford dealer and ask for struts and shocks for a 2003-2004 Mach 1.

Then order some Lower control arms from Mustang Parts & Accessories - 50resto They have different ones priced for everyones budget.

Then check and see what springs are in it, and see if it has spring isolators in it. If they don't...then buy some new poly isolators as they will raise the car about 1/4" all the way around. This may be all you need to stop scraping on the ground.

Are you refering to the front or rear lower control arms. I was thinking about changing uppers and lowers in the rear. The springs are Eibach Pro kit, but I think they are just dead. What do you think about some H&R's? they seem to be a favorite. How about stock height and trim a little off?

If you're stock, and hit it hard the rear will steer in another direction than the car.
This is the cause of so many fishtail crashes in mustangs.
Upper / lower help, I prefer panhard myself. Just my two cents.
