I dont know where this squeak is coming from. but when ever i turn the wheel left or right or go over a bump it squeaks really loud at the front left wheel. but as it drives more the squeak becomes not as noticible but is still there. and its driving me crazy. its annoying for 1 but also i dont want something to break. sounds like something is dryed out.

so what could this be. A dried out Ball Joint, Tie rod end??


and if i push down on the fender above the left front wheel it makes that sound

could be the balljoint, the outter tie rod end or the bushing on top of the strut. jack up the car and put jack stands under the controll arms so the suspension is loaded (like its on the ground), take the lf wheel off and have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth, if its bad enough, you should be able to hear wich one is bad just by sticking your head in there.

My car does the exact same thing, I replaced my struts and strut bushing so I know it is not them. I am still looking for my squeak, will replace balljoints next weekend to see if that is the problem.

I agree with the above statements, probably a tie rod or ball joint.

Mine would squeak when i turned the steering wheel back and forth slightly.Turns out it was a lower ball joint.I had both replaced and the squeaking was gone.The factory ball joints didnt have grease nipples so you couldnt grease them.

well as i looked at them today i noticed they have a grease fitting so i lucked out there as the previous owner replaced the stock ones with an aftermarket one. so i put some grease in the ball joint so we shall see after i drive.

To get rid of a front end squeak I replaced the following.

A arms with bushings and ball joints
tie rod ends
struts
strut bushings

It was the strut bushings.

well the squeak is still there.

its so loud now when i turn the wheel.

Pop the tie rod off that wheel and turn the wheel back and forth by hand. This will tell you if it's a brake, strut bushing, ball joint, etc.

well i doubt its the Strut bushing concidering they are brand new struts with bushings.

now that its warm out side its not that noticible as it was when it was in the 30's and 40's

but ill give that a shot

how do i take the tie rod off. do i need a special tool. is a tie rods something i should replace when i get a chance??

A tie rod puller tool (you can loan them out from most parts stores) works well.

If you replace one, you need an alignment.

With outer tie rods you just need a couple of wrenches to take them off. With the inner rods replacing the rack could be an option if your rack is leaky, since they come with new inners.
