i did a search and didnt really find anyone with the same needs so here it goes.

88 GT, me aand my dad are big into autocross and i have been using my 95 v6 but now i want the gt. I've been told the sincle best traction/suspension mod you can do is tires. I have the yokohoma avs100 that are rated well with the auot-x guys. I was looking at m/m sport box for $1500(http://www.maximummotorsports.com/giab.asp#sport). the only downside of this kit is there are no u/l control arms but would it be good to buy this kit get the control arms and call it a day??

This car will be taken to an auto-x twice a month and a drag strip probably the same amount, it is also my daily driver so i guess im looking to spend no more than 1500 and get good all around handleing good launch traction and focus on cornering and stability thanks guys!!

mods in sig

you could probably get it just as good for less. i dont know autocross that well but i would think you could find a good front sway bar a set of subframes and some drop springs to do the same job for less than 1500. i found a deal on upper and lower control arms on ebay. got them overstocked for like 150 bucks for both

Are you looking to be competitive? Frankly, it's tough for a fox body to be competitive in any autocross class, at least in a regional or national level. A very hot and expensive CP 'stang may be competitive.

What class do you intend to run in? With your current mods you are in ESP. With the mods you are looking to install you will be in SM. Watch out-SFCs will put you in CP, you don't want to be there!

Does your club have street tire class?
Falken rt-615 are desirable street tires
Kumho V710s are desirable race tires

Know that race tires will stress your suspension, so make sure it's in good order. Drill out the rivet on your stock camber plates or get some MM caster/camber plates and run your camber at max negative. Probably about -1.6*

In no particular order, get:
Good front brake pads. (Hawk HP for example).
Koni sport struts (like I said, MM CC plates as well, dial in as much + castor as possible)
H&R race springs
MM panhard bar
Strut tower brace-but remember it can only be a two point brace!

Forget your engine, go for the suspension mods.
I'm selling off a few parts that would help you if interested PM me.

SEAT TIME!!! Get out and race !!!

HA....not competitive.....

get the book called mustang performance part 2 by hp books, an entire wealth of knowledge on setup with the fox body. i am doing some of the mods and it is so drastic.

i will be there with pro one motorsports at the runoffs....a fm team

Cool, hope to see you there though I'll be driving a, ahem, honda si.

Threadjacking for a moment:

In FS, you have serious competition this year in the 05 stang AND the 03-04 Cobra. Fox body? No way.

In ESP, at least the Evo has been moved out but all those FS stangs mentioned above can now be modded to be awesome ESP cars. Fox body, unlikely. Maybe if you do some brake work, add ABS from a 94/95, but unlikely.

In SM, are you kidding??? Click Here

In CP, here you might have a chance. Here bracing, torque arms, weight reduction is allowed, a CP fox could potentially win but it would take ooodles of cash, retrofits, etc.

What class do you see a fox body competing at Tour or National events?

Back on Topic.

stangjunkie...How much $$$ do you want to spend? That's a big factor...

I'd go Koni over Bilstein. MM plates, MM LCA, MM PHB, IMHO

some of the best nasa racers, namely the gr40 and mm's own cars competing are fox hatches. its all about intrepreting the rules. there is a saying i once heard....there are two types of racers, cheaters and loosers...lol. not the best saying in the world but it goes most of the time.

c pro. would be a good choice.

solo is a whole new range for me, autocrossing isnt really. i live like 20min from gingerman raceway in south haven mich. and work there everyday with pro one trackside. you got aol, hit me up on msgr at jammerjamming or on myspace www.myspace.com/jammerjamming

as for your shock and strut combo i would go with the koni as well, very competitive.

mainly just read the rule book on what is allowed to be modded for the class your going to run in, that will be the biggest factor in how fast you are. even the slightest detail will make you a tenth faster.
