I have a 86 SVO rear disk brake setup on my stang but since I installed it I've never had an emergancy brake. I was told that you need an ebrake to reset the ratcheting mechanism in rear brake calipers and that it needs to be pulled at least once a day. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is, does anyone know how the ebrake is setup on an 86 SVO?

Thats only if you use the conversion kit with the gm calipers. As far as i know no ford calipers have been like that.

You should probably have an E brake for safety reasons if anything!

Well thats why I'm trying to hook it up but I'm missing a part because I have no way of hooking the cable end to the arm on the caliper.

where did you get the cables from? i just did that swap, and bought the cables from advance auto parts...they came with the correct clevis installed

...i do have a slight problem though, I think my right rear caliper is hanging, and upon looking at my service manual, it says to loosen the "caliper end retainer"...what the hell is that? i see two caliper bolts, and a parking brake lever. it goes on to say that i need to "screw" in the pistons to seat them otherwise the parking brake section of the caliper will be messed up and the caliper will need to be overhauled.

any advice?

well for these calipers the pistons have to be screwed in. I just bought a tool that attachs to a wrench. Can you send me a pic of what your emergancy brake connection looks like??

No, I haven't gotten to that yet, I've been trying to get the cables hooked up first.
