SVT Focus Tires?

I'm on my third set of tires in only 28,000 miles. Driving a 2003 SVT Focus and have been running Continental Contiextreme Contacts 215/45/17. I'm only getting about 7 to 9,000 miles out of a set. Is this Normal for a W rated tire? I have been told it is. What would be a better tire,that wears better? I drive 90 miles a day to work and back, so tires are getting expensive. I know my SVT is no comuter car but I get 32 miles to the gallon and it runs Great. Also I need a M&S rated tire.
