swapping out my 5 piece x pipe?

I have the SLP X with the race pipes w/borla catback. It is louder than ***** at WOT!! I have the cats but I probably won't put them on until smog time. But it was night and day when I added cats to my previous Bassani X, so I think its definitely worth getting.

I've heard from a couple people who had a decent exhaust shop fabricate the race pipes...but then you have the risk of them not fitting exactly right. I'm not sure how these SLP pipes fit together, but for the $70 bucks, it might be a lil money well spent.
Not to steal the thread or chg the subject, but has anyone tried removing cats from an existing aftermarket midpipe and replacing them with 'race pipes'? I like my MRT catted H, but I sometimes wish it were louder. Anyone done this?

if ya had the cats on first what was the sound difference on the swap?
Idle sounds pretty much the same. Anywhere in the low to mid-rpm band, say from 1.5-3K is noticeably louder and has a different sound (maybe more rasp as some would say, but I like rasp). WOT is obviously louder as well, but the main difference from what I noticed is the mid rpms like I said. Listening to the car being driven from the outside, it is all around a lot more audible - meaner sounding as well. Hope that helps.

yeah...ive never heard my exhaust from the outside but id imagine it sounds 100 times louder from the outside back compared to inside...i dunno ill drive it around college for a few weeks & if i need it louder ill buy the race pipes...im gonna love the small roads w/ houses everywhere & school buildings
i had it at purdue last year w/ just the packs on it & it sounded real loud...i cant imagine how much louder itll sound w/ my mid pipe
