swapping to a 5-speed...

Well, it looks like a t-45 swap will be forthcoming since the AODE/4R70W in the wife's 96 coupe is acting up.....AGAIN

Here is a list of what I know I will need for the swap...anything I'm forgetting?

Tranny
Bellhousing
Clutch Set
Shifter
Shifter Trim Boot
Shifter outer boot thingy (the thick rubber piece that seals the floorpan)
Pedals Assy
Cable/Quadrant
Clutch Fork
ECM
Trans Wiring Harness
Driveshaft

Will the crossmembers be the same or do they require a swap? Also are the speed sensors the same or no?

And are there any tricks or shortcuts or aggravating problems I should know about?

btw I have had the trans out 3 times already so I know the starter is a PITA

Are you sure you would even need the ECM, since there are no shift points as with the AOD?

i did the conversion...

i would suggest you push the floor pan up from below the car while the tranny is still outside the car


the manual floor pan is actually higher than the automatic and the shifter will touch with the hole for the shifter... i had to trim the hole and shifter boot, because it was starting to be annoying... resonance

what part of the floorpan are you talking about? where the shifter comes through or further down than that?

nope... you need that too... but to my understanding it would come with the tranny... at least mine did

nah, this one won't...it's one I'm buying from a buddy

2k miles, clean bill of health from a local tranny shop, $150. It has a small hole in the case from a piece of metal in the road, but can be fixed with aluminum welding

you'll also need a clutch fork dustshield then... that was like 60 bucks for a piece of aluminum

you also need the bolt to connect the fork, those little metal punches as well(forgot their name)

Metal punches as in a tool or a part? The only thing I can figure is the punch to finish opening the firewall for the cable to pass through.

i believe they go on the flywheel. My friend who helped me install mine did that part so im not to fimiliar. i think theyre called dowels?

i think the dowels come with the flywheel
