When i tried to get my '90 mustang inspected a few days ago, one of the problems was sway bar links needed replaced. so i got one side on tonight and it was a bitch to get on, and it still doesn't really look right. the bushings looks more offset than they should be and the link is really squish. is something else bent and twisted or is this how it should look?

This is what mine looked like before replacing. Keep in mind that the car was jacked up in the front.

Here is the shot with new ones.

How much did you tighten them? That doesn't look right. Ditch those stock ones and get some prothane sway bar endlinks.

To the OP, from the pictures what's all that grease? Is it just a shadow in the pics? Looks like grease undercoating on everything.

The Energy end links are smaller than the stock ones but the bushings are thinner so it fits snug.

The ones on this car were bent.

If you don't have both front wheels off the ground, the bar is trying to do its job, and it's distorting the bushings. Trying to mess with swaybar endlinks with only one wheel in the air is a real PITA. If you do have both in the air and it still looks like that, I'd say the links are too short, but it looks plenty long enough as it is, which is why I wonder if you only have one wheel off the ground. And WTF, did you drive that car through a tar pit?

edit: The angle of the link looks odd, it should not be angling down front/back like that. How about the swaybar mounting bracket bushings, how do they look? What about the brackets? Are the A-arms stock?

MFE, nice to see you around Stangnet boards these days. We welcome your ridiculous amount of suspension and road racing knowledge. Stop trolling around the Corral so much and stay a while

thanks guys, and yes that picture was taken just after i undercoated her. putting on new end links with wet undercoating was a messy pita lol. but i'm not sure if i had the other wheel off the ground or not. i only got the one done last night, so ill put the other one on as soon as i get a chance and see what they both look like then. thanks again
