I posted a few months back when I redid the front suspension. Had issues getting the sway bar to fit. Well I got underneath it today to work on the steering and saw rub spots, so I removed the sway bar. When I took the sway bar off, I set the car back on the ground and noticed the ride height is about 1.5" higher. So the sway bar is binding the suspension and not letting it flex down. The only thing I can think is that I was sent a sway bar for a 67. The current sway bar bolts into my 64, it just doesn't fit as designed. Does this sound possible?

Drive the car around the block and it will settle back down.
Where was the sway bar rubbing? Pics? I don't think the 67 sway bar would be a significant problem in a 64.

The car has been driven plenty sense the original installation. The sway bar is rubbing badly against the frame on both sides. I had this problem at installation, but I cut the spacer down on the end links and it fit. After some miles, it is easy to see that the sway bar is still rubbing the frame. My comment about the ride height was that without the sway bar attached, ride height is higher, the sway bar should not affect ride height. Also, I found the p/n on the bar and it is marked for a 64-66 Mustang. I'm lost on this one.

Didn't install it upside down. I installed it with the elbow pointing down. 19stang66 posted some pics of his front end a while back, I verified it is installed in the correct orientation.

if they sent you a 67-up sway bar it could very well have the probs you are describing. the 67-up sway bar is wider than the 65-66 bar. also do you have granada spindles? that could be a problem as well, but usually the ride hesight will go up and stay that way while you are driving.

I have stock drum brake spindles. I compared the measurements of the sway bar I have to one they have in stock and its the same bar, correct part for my car. Why is it such a difficult fit?
