Are there any worthwhile sway bar upgrades for the Fox Mustang? I have mine out right now and they need paint and TLC, but before i put the effort into it, i would like to know if there is anything that woul dbe considered an upgrade?

The car would be mostly a street/weekend car but i'd like it to take a turn and occasionally autocross with it.

I realize it might be best to match it to the suspension like a complete bullitt kit, but i am not sure what i will go with. Now i have FMS C springs and tokico blues, but that may change to H&R springs and adjustables shock/struts OR a coil-over conversion.

Any advice?

I bought my Fox not long ago and it had the suspension work already done.

I've never driven a stock Fox....but this bastard rides on rails and is good fun!

I'm pretty sure it has Ford Racing sway bars in it if I remember correctly. HR springs, front and rear strut tower braces, panhard bar, subframes, torque arm, adjustable lower contral arms, no uppers, ford racing a-arms, tubular k-member....probably something I'm forgetting.

It was always my goal with any car I bought to build a corner carver, I just so happen to bought one someone else put all the money into.

I'd say you gotta start somewhere but it depends on how far you want to go. The springs and struts are huge.....the strut braces are very helpful as well....and the panhard bar is unbelievable.

A sway bigger/stiffer than a stock GT won't help at all. In fact, it'll likely hurt. If you look at the ?95 Cobra R?, you'll see that FRPP went with a slightly softer swaybar (in the rear?) because it was a 100% pure "circle track" car (no radio, no AC, etc).

Good Luck!

Aren't the SN95 bars softer? I don't have the numbers offhand, but didn't Ford decrease the diameter over the years?

So wouldn't a late model GT have softer bars that may be more beneficial?

I've read before that the stock 'bars are more than adequate... I say have them cleaned and powder coated then bolt 'em back in.

The SN95 sway bars will not fit a fox because they increased the track width on SN95's. I had one bolted up on Hack Job and the wheels hit the bar before they are fully turned. I went with a big Fox GT sway bar with poly bushings and poly links. Hack Job handles pretty damn good. I used an SN95 rear bar on Hack Job. A little thicker and the demensions are the same.
