swiss cheese engine bay

I was considering it when my engine was out.
It is a serious amount of work. It's one of those projects that you really have to dedicate yourself to, and it's gonna take more than just a couple of hours.
I gave up on that idea really quick.

Holes in Engine bay

Just leave them. Ford has them for reasons. They help move air through the engine bay to disipate heat when the car is standing still at idle. If you are concerned about some, buy an assortment of rubber plugs and use them in some areas to prevent water from getting in at some places. Ford uses these rubber plugs in some areas of the body, but did not cover every hole in the engine bay.

Probably the single funniest thing I have EVER read on Stangnet! Thanks for bringing back a three-year-old thread and giving a great laugh!

Oh Hell...

Gotta head to lowes to get a hole saw then...

I really wish I thought you were kidding right now, but it's obvious you aren't.

The "holes" are there because the Fox chassis was used in multiple configurations, with multiple vehicles. It was easier for Ford to just add holes in the existing inner skirts where necessary in order to bolt on components, than it was to make different skirts, for different vehicles. Some of the little holes in there are for bolting on parts for Mustangs..others for Lincoln's, others for Fairmonts, etc, etc.

Don't read so far into it. These car's weren't that well thought out. ;)

Louvers and Hole saws

Oh Hell... Gotta head to Lowe's to get a hole saw then...

Very Nice Pics! Since there's no battery, do you crank it by hand like a model T? :D

Anybody louver a fox body hood and like it?? I heard about newer 'Stangs ripping the hoods off and the hood pins right out out on race courses! I always wanted to try this with my '79 to match the side window louvers. My old Olds front end floats up at highway speeds, so louvers and the hole saw are called for there too! Just another wacky thought.
