I am in the process of building a 408 stroker to get ready for summer and I was originally going to sell my supercharger and go n/a. The machine shop guru was tryng to convince me that the supercharger will not be good for the stroker because the rpms of the stroker will be much lower......he is not a fan of strokers. Now I am actually interested in putting it back on the 408 but I am curious what type of project I am beginning. Will the brackets for the 351 be the same as the 302? Also, any thoughts on the rpm range of strokers as a disadvantage?

hes stupid, the rpms wont be any lower and a blown 408 would be baller ****. You will have to get brakets from vortech or what ever it is, and dont let that guy build you a stroker, if he is already against em, find someone else, even if he is a friend, its the difference between a running engine and a blown up engine!!

good advice for sure but I will actually be assembling the engine, just using the local shop for block work and a bit of advice when needed.

The brackets should bolt up, hood clearance will likely be an issue due to the 9.5" deck height of the 351w based engines.

But I think a better question is what blower do you have, what is your compression on the 408, what block, internals, heads, intake, and cam are you running. A good 408 won't see much bennifit to a small blower like a novi 1000 or something. IMO nothing smaller than a T trim on a 408 with good 205-225cc heads, and healthy cam and intake. And a YSi would be right in line. But if your using a stock 351 block then I would skip the blower completely as you will be able to just about tax out the hp limit of a factory block N/A and a blower will destroy it. So i guess I'm currious as to your combination, what block it's based on, and what blower you plan on using.

I was going to mention the same thing. I talked to a few supercharger rep's and let them know that in the future my 351w, hopefully, will be a 408. The novi 2000 was recomended. You need to be able to fill those extra cubes.
