Hi, i have had way to many problems with c4's. I went through 3 last season and 1 this month. I cantafford to keep fixing them. My friends are telling me to put a turbo 400 behind my 347 (87 gt). What do you guys think. And what would i need to do this swamp. Any help is appreciated. thanks

i just dont want to take the chance again. I know you have to swamp several parts out like modify a bell housing, i beleieve yoke adapters. Does anyone know. I want to do a cost assesment before i make a choice. Thanks

Many I ask exactly who built it and were you live...

Because if its near me I know who it probably is and he ripped my pop off ALOT worse (say 15 times broke [over 2 C4's] and $5000 later I got a POS laying in our shop).

I personaly know a guy qho popped his Artcarr C4 this last weekend at the track.

Doesn't sound like a good track record. Unfrotunatly he won't let me open it up, due to warrenty reasons I am sure.

i have a 347 stroker probably around 450 rear wheel horses. Any ideas on the turbo 400?

LOL,you will not need the Turbo 400!Its over 120lbs for one and takes more power to turn (i.e less at the wheels for you).

Our PA Supercomp C4 is surviving a 408 (I would say it was around 600-650hp on motor) on a 250hp of nitrous, and will soon be behind the same motor in 427 form sluping a staged 400hp shot!

The t400 will work, but with TCI and PA, to mention two, offering C4's that are good for 450 to 1200 hp, why? If I was going to get the adapters, etc, I would get a powerglide instead.

My TCI home rebuilt handles my high 7 sec (1/8 mile) 82 on spray just fine. My other TCI has 160000 miles, and works fine. Not as much power as you have, but probably 100 runs on the one I built.

What exactly are you breaking? The are bulletproof inputs, planetaries, drums, sprags, etc, etc for these.

Endplay is critical to making these live.

PA goes to most of the Fun Ford events, and has some guaranteed c4 packages, call them.

WOW!! Im a GM guy and had several Turbo 400's and 350's..The one thing you cant say anything about, well, cept theres no OD.But these trannies were "bulletproof" rite from the factory!! Never heard of anyone doing this swap.Let us know how it goes!!:nice: I wouldnt pass up a 350 if you came across one!!:nice:

if it were me, I would use an AOD or 4R70W....call me crazy, but both have OD for street use, and both have equally strong and stronger internals. Especially with the 4R70W being able to hold 400 HP in STOCK form with a shift kit.

True,,I gotta admit, why someone wouldnt go with an OD tranny in this day and age is beyond me!!
