I tried searching the fourms but couldent find any matches. I am wanting to switch over when I build my motor this winter. I was wondering what major changes I need to do.

Will I be able to use my stock fuel tank?
I will probably run a new fuel line from the tank strait to the carb.
will my guages work without the ecu?
will anything else have to be changed?

thanks

What you need:

Modify pick up to use a external pump,a holley blue or black is a good pump.

Run a -08AN line to either a dead head regulator,or if you want you can make it a re-turn style and use a -06AN for a retune.

Of course you'll need a new manifold and carburator.

You might need to get another throttle cable, but atleast get a good cable holder.

Depending on what manifold you get,you wont have EGR.

Thats about it,if you got problems PM and I will try and help you out.

i just converted my 95.

what you will need:
carb
intake manifold
fuel tank pickup
fuel pump
fuel line
a return style regulator (if desired, i dont run a return)
ignition system
coil (or you can modify the tfi coil to work)
carbed distributor

the swap is easy with a 5 spd, i hear it is more detailed with a computer contolled auto.

im not sure on fox bodies, but on my 95 the stock hood wont clear unless i bash up my already very small air cleaner.

Oh yea, thats true if you got the stock ignition you got to get the carbed distributor.

But,nows the perfect time to upgrade to a MSD or something.

Um no they dont, the only ones that work are the voltmeter and speedo if unplugging the computer and going carbed.

I too just did this in my car. It is a 94. I had to rewire alot of stuff. The only gauges that worked were the fuel level and the voltmeter. Everything else I either had to rewire or buy aftermarket ones. As for parts, The above posts got pretty much everything.

All the guages can be wired to work.

I warmly recommend using a mechanical fuel pump rather than the electrics. Electrics are a royal PITA and are unreliable. My mechanical has been pumping flawlessly for 3 years now and I dont need any inline regulator at all.

i have a question for you- did you use a vacuum advance distributor. i have one off of an 85 gt, and the vacuum advance hits the accessory brackets, throwing it all off where it needs to go in. any advice on how to get around this, aside from buying a $200 msd dizzy?

I used an 85 distributor in my carbed vert and it clears fine. Maybe your a tooth off. Spin it one more tooth and retime it.
