I'm a staunch advocate of synthetic oil & think it largely responsible for trouble-free high mileage on my modified pushrod '95.
But this is the first car I bought w/zero miles---I now have 800 miles on it.
So the question is:
How many miles should you go on conventional fossil oils to seat everything in before going to Mobil One?

+1 a definite answer is about as elusive as a snipe,

That said i did my own oil change at 5000K miles and never turned back. So I guess at the first oil change I did mine.

In my old car that had 50K miles when I bought it I did it then.

I've always switched at the first oil change also.
