Still trying to pinpoint my rough running rough idling car...What does a messed up dizzy do?

Well mine missed like crazy and later on started making some noise. Then it just locked up and I was stuck an hour from home on the side of the road.

the PIP can go south, but generally it runs great and then not at all (or it will miss severely).

Hm tell me more about this PIP!

PIP = Profile Ignition Pick up. It tells the puter what the crank's position is. It is responsible to spark and fuel injector timing. The PIP is a two piece sensor located inside the dizzy's bowl.

For descriptor's sake, What Scott described sounds like a bad bushing in the dizzy. it happens.
