synchros??

how can u tell when your synchros are going out?

recently ive been having trouble shifting into 3rd gear...causes a slight grind. and when on the highway downshifting from 5th to 3rd is almost imposible...it grinds real bad

my warranty just ran out too

any1 kno what this could be and how it's fixable?

p.s. car is an 01 gt with tr3650 but ive never had problems with it

bad syncros

Ya man, sounds like your syncros are bad. I had mine fixed in January, my third gear started grinding really bad everytime you shifted into it and also the reverse. My car is an 02 and I got an extended warranty so I didn't have to pay for it luckily! I got the repair invoice somewhere but I can't recall off the top of my head how much it would have been... It was kinda funny, they went to fix the broken parts and and broke something else putting them back in. They had my car 3 weeks!

yup, sounds like the syncros i would take it to a speed shop rather than ford if your worried about price, they will ususally be a little cheaper. i had the same thing happen in my first gt, my warranty had just ran out. but..... i went in & talked to them & they ended up fixing it at no cost so you might want to go & ask them about it to see if they might try & work something out, couldn't hurt
