I just got a T-5 and I bought a T-5 adapter plate with it that allows me to bolt the T-5 to my stock bell housing. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use my stock clutch linkage on the new T-5 clutch. Thanks

65-70 yes.

This is basically the parts you need.

You would need the correct clutch disc to match the splines on the t5.

Here's a good article on the subject

I use the stock Hipo linkage since I have Hipo manifolds and a stock bell housing modified for the spacer. Keep everything greased and the system works great and is smooth. It is in a '65 convert. with a 6 bolt bell on a warmed up '74 302 block. I also use an 11" diaphram clutch; the flywheel is balanced for the early (28 oz.) application and the stock starter works fine. The flywheel is out of a truck. I should call this car FrankenMustang!

From what I have learned, you can not use stock clutch linkage setups from the early cars on a T-5 tranny. The early trannies clutch forks were pulled by the cable from the back side of the tranny and the T-5 is from the front side. That's why they sell $250 conversion clutch cable kits when using a T-5.

If you have a t-5 bellhousing you'll need the kits fulcrum to make the fork a pusher instead of a puller. In my opinion I would go with the hydraulic clutch or the cable clutch. I'm going with the hydraulic to clean up my engine bay and I think the cable will hit my headers. The hyraulic is about 400 and the cable is around 200 so both is more exspensive than what you have but it might help to do a little research....I found out the hard way and bought all new z rod and stuff to find out I couldn't/didn't want to use it.

You can use the stock z-bar setup with both the early and late model belhousings. In your situation, the linkage goes where it used to go-- all the parts are the same (the pusher fork, fulcrum, and throwout bearing). I used the z-bar with the t5 bell by spacing the fulcrum 3/4". It works just like the original, which never worked very well to begin with (my car is a hodge podge though). I would recommend a hydraulic setup if you had the t5 bell and fork.
