Greetings all :SNSign: members!!

I´m back right now from removing my driveshaft b/c on speeds above 90 mph my trans. vibrates so bad, so i have read and yes i had verify balance on the tires etc etc, but the main issue is the driveshaft , i´ve read the whole T5 reconstruction manual and i cant find anywhere if the Driveshaft Yoke rests on some kind of bearing , ok ok to the point , the Driveshaft yoke is seriously weared on the middle and the T5 output shaft moves a lot!! , the yoke is so weared that its like the "bearing" supporting it on the trans its gone or locked , I dont have any kind of whining or anything is just the vibration and i am pretty much sure is because this wear on the yoke , should i just replace the yoke or my t-5 is going down ,

P.S. My 4th gear is gone , i can use it if i granny-shift from 3rd to 4th , it dosn´t jump out of gear or anything, is just i have to shift really slow to 4th , all the other gears are without any problem just the 4th , i know i have to rebuilt it but my budget its all on the mods and this was seriously unexpected
i cant afford the whole tranny rebuilt right now , i just want to stop the vibration.
Thanks in advance!

i would go in this order

replace u-joints
have driveshaft balanced
replace tailshaft bushing in the extension
housing of the tranny

if none of the above get it, i would have backlash on the rear checked, and check all tranny mounts and motor mounts and check for driveline alignment

Did you change anything recently, U joints, fluid in the trans or rear end?
Or did it just gradually come to be? Check U joints, push up and pull down on the driveshaft where the joints are located, If you have bad parts inside your T-5 this can cause vibration also, then check rear end for back lash and play in the yoke.

Sorry for the lack of info, it will be a little long but many problems started after a simple clutch change so the story goes like this:

I bought a FMS HD clutch from summit

I installed the clutch, then the tranny had a fluid change <- my horrible mistake is that i poured normal gear oil , not AOD oil , so , after this my 4th gear started to (clash? , grind) in faster changes, so i realized that i had the wrong oil on tranny, badly it was to late to "recover" my 4th synch. ok so the extension started to leak oil from the oil seal , and the vibration above 90mph started , so i bought the oil seal , replaced it and i saw that the yoke on the d/s is badly weared on the middle not in the oil seat a little more inside the extension output shaft , it has some strange pattern on the wear like a V wear pattern , and the extension output shaft is realy lose ( is this normal? , i can move a lot with my fingers, but when i rotate the shaft it gets firm , no movement at all , only when no rotation ), so i think there was a bearing on the extension at the outpushaft that is gone so i think this is the reason of the yoke unnormal wear and the movement on the output shaft, but ive readed all the rebuilt manual and i cant find anywhere if there is a bearing at the end of the extension.

Ok ive replaced the balancer before the problems started because it was going bad, its the OEM replacement and its good so far no engine vibration , only at speed , and its comming from the D/S i can feel it on the shifter really bad

Just a little note the vibration at higer speeds "disapears" its only @ 90 - 100 mph and if im in 4th, the vibrations starts bad but suddenly disapears as i speed up @ WOT and stays quiet unless i downspeed to the "red zone" 90-100 , also the gears seems to have a relation because in 4th the vibration starts and disapears , then shift to 5th and the vib starts badly again , the worst gear is 5th the vibration stays all the time no matter what speed 90-120 mph @ wot , no accel , or middle accel.

i know its kinda hard to explain , but the thing is that all this its caused by this un-normal wear on the DS yoke , but the thing is that if i replace only the yoke i dont want to the new be weared because a bad ¿bearing? on the extension. just trying to save some pennys or spend all on this matter, this is really frustrating , all my budget was on the mod parts and suddenly this makes my car un-drivable because i dont want to make more damage ($$) i guess i will have to stop the shopping mod cart , and start spending money on this. this car is not daily-driven only weekends :p fun car hehe

Sorry for the long post , any help at this point will be apreciated

I had same thing happen after a clutch change,it turned out I put the drive shaft a half turn off from where I removed it.
Sounds logical , but isnt the driveshaft keyed , only one way , i see the key on the yoke , but i cant remember on the outputshaft

Well i think the question here , not only for me but for anyone is , how to get it synched again with all the drivetrain ??

Did you not mark the relation of the DS to the dif. when you took it off initially? If not I believe the only way to tell is by trial and error (turning the DS 1/4 turns until there vibration leaves)

I'm having the same problem. I marked my driveshaft on the pinion flange with no problems but am having trouble getting the yoke and the output shaft on the trans correctly balanced. One time I took it out and put it back in and the vibrations went away.

Anyone have comments as to which way the driveshaft should slip into the tranny? My driveshaft has a spot for a keyway but the output shaft does not.

Sorry i cant help here , the car is parked since my last post on this topic :notnice: , doing h/c/i, i think i will figure this out when i finish.
