My place is in the classic forums, but id thought id ask here.

I picked up a T-5 from my local junkyard from a 95 GT that had under 75K miles with clutch and flywheel for 300 bucks.

I know that the T-5 is not the strongest trans in the world, but im gonna keep this one for a long time, and its going in my 68 Fastback with a hydraulic clutch setup.

Now, I cant afford a TKO or a T56, because i have a 429 thats going into my mustang. Is there any gear sets or ways to make the gears stronger in the T5 that will make the trans be able to handle high horsepower and torque? Any info would be a great help!

Search around for G-Force T-5 stuff. Reportedly you'll break your tranny casing before you'll break the internals of a G-force T-5.

You may end up having to change input shaft length, I don't imagine there's a bellhousing out there to use the bastard child longer input shaft from a '94-95 'stang with a "BBF" 429/460 bolt pattern on a T-5. Foxbody's had approximately 3/8" shorter input shafts. I don't know if Lakewood, McLeod, or Quicktime make a bellhousing for the application, if any do it's probably Quicktime, they have some off the wall stuff...

The hydraulic clutch setup should be simple, though, the input shaft size and once you pull the bearing retainer the front looks real similar to the old 3 speeds we use in my Dad's circle track car.

Thanks man.

The reason why im sticking with this trans for a long time is because I dont have the money to spent on another transmission, and I assumed that the T5 would be suffucient enough to run a 429.

Thanks for the info. when I get the car running, the T5 is gonna be behind the stock 302 for now, until I finish up the 429.

the t-5 isn't sufficient to run a lawnmower engine much less a 429. Everyone that has a 302 breaks them. the only way you will be able to use the t-5 for your 429 is if you don't race or power shift period.
