I have an AODE and I'm thinkin about a swap. I priced out the Tranny but wondering what else I would need??? How complex is this. I have a 94 GT, Stock Rear End- 3.73 Coming soon. Shortie Headers and 2 1/2 header back no cats. Other engine bolt-ons nothing major. Is this worth doing or should I just build up the AODE?? Thanks:SNSign:!!!!

It all depends on how much you want to spend and how much power you're making. The T-5 (made by Tremec or as they are known now TTC) is plenty strong for a stocker but serious power requires a better tranny like a TKO or beefy slush box. Is your car a DD or is it a drag car?

Kinda in between, its not a dd for sure but I'm working on continually building it up. Heads Cam Intake ect. At the time being though I'm maybe running 230 never Dyno'ed it though so not positive. TKO you say though, I'm gonna look at that. What about a Tremec built a little??

Do it right the first time. You sound like me a coupla years ago. Don't buy parts twice or if you dont have the money for a good one, make sure you can sell the one you are buying down the road a year or 2. Personally I am going "pro-motion" gforce because I think it is built better than the regular gforce based on others' personal experiece at the track. PLUS you are much less likely to have the vibration problems the tko's have.

Your most economical choices are going to be a T-5 or a TKO - both five speed manuals. A T-56, a six speed, is an option but requires a lot of rework. the T-5 will handle a maximum of 300 lb-ft of torque while the TKO will handle 500 - 600 lb-ft. The T-56 will handle up to 450 lb-ft. Running sticky tires will put much more strain on the tranny than if you run a set of hi-po radials. The radials will break free and spin well before the max torque of the transmission.

The SN95 bodies require special T-5's with a longer tail stock to use the stock drive shaft. The TKO or T-56 will require a custom drive shaft. The T-56 will also require a special (read "expensive") bell housing. The T-5 and TKO can use a bone yard piece.

I need to correct my last post. I should've stated that your most economical choice would be to install a beefed-up automatic.
