I was kinda cruising around today... Just had my tranny rebuilt.... Was in 5th gear... doing about 80 and started gaining speed... (didnt relize till...) i was at about a 100 and then the tranny i guess let go? and it was like it was in N?
I have 1*2*3*4*R but no fitfh gear! all i have is my 373 gears and the rebuilt tranny with a full exhaust! Thats as far as i know... Any reasons why i would lose fitfh gear like that? and is it ok to drive around a little while with 5th gone like it is?

i had the EXACT same thing happen to me.
there is a small retaining ring that holds 5th gear on, if the ring breaks or comes loose the gear can slide off the shaft and cause your problem having no 5th. i'd take it out and give it to the guy that rebuilt it for you and have him fix it

He's right about the ring holding on 5th. The exact thing happened to me last summer. I had my transmission rebuilt and two days later, I lost 5th. I took it back and they tried to tell me I was beating on my car which I wasn’t, after an argument, the customer won and they fixed it.
