I've got a fresh victim on my operating table that was given to me.
Mainshaft is ever so slightly scored where the input shaft's bearings ride. To be honest, it's so minor i could prob use it as is and never notice a difference. The nick on the mainshaft tip is like a small C punched into it...perhaps 1mm in lenght tops. Like i said, so minor prob never notice it. It's smooth and lies under the major surface diameter of the tip.
I remember a long time ago reading a site showing what dimensions the tip needed to be machined to in order to run the pocket bearing style bearing like the 1993 Cobra. Was wondering if anyone had any info on that so I could take a peek. From what i remember of the page i read, the tip is a slightly smaller diameter than the standard shaft. There was a DWG showing the dimensions which i can't find anymore.
Undecided on which route I want to take with this T-5. It's a 1990 T-5 with the 065 gearset...with a trashed input shaft, countergear, 1st, and 2nd. Does using the 2.95 gearset require the mainshaft to be modified to use the Cobra pocket bearing as well? You can get the 2.95 gearset on ebay (Tremec and aftermarket) but just wondering if the cobra shaft was needed since i remember reading the Z-spec used the pocket bearing design like the 93-95 Cobra
