Ok, I dug a little bit in these forums and from the sounds of it, you have to do a lot of modifying to put in a tremec. I don't really know anything about this. So Two questions...

A. I thought tremecs were direct replacements for the T-5?
B. Has anyone used the G-force rebuild on the t-5?

Thanks

Larry

I did the same research, and I ended up going with a G-Force T5. My biggest concern was keeping the trans tunnel unchanged, because I want to use a stock center console in my 67 fb.

I don't have any install or performance feedback for you, because the new trans & engine haven't gone in yet. I probably won't get the engine and trans installed for another couple of months.

My only negative right now is price... the G-Force T5 ain't cheap.

good luck.

Maybe I should throw in more info and see if I get other suggestions too.

I am stroking a 351W to 427. I will have performance heads, intake, blah, blah, blah. I figure I will pushing a few ponies. What other options are there other than G-force, tremec, and richmond (which by the way, if I went to right site I am not quite impressed)

I have a Gforce T5 behind a 347 stroker motor in my 67 GT350. Modern Driveline made it for me. Mcleod scattershield, Centerforce dual friction clutch, Z-bar clutch linkage, Steeda Tri-ax shifter with a "stock-appearing" shifter handle. Very, very nice tranny. A little notchier than the original Toploader it replaced but shifts well. They told me to take it easy on it for the first 500 miles so I've got the rev limiter set to 6200 and I'm not dumping the clutch. I had some vibration problems because the pinion angle was WAY off due to the aftermarket leaf springs I am running. I got the pinion angle corrected with a wedge kit and now the vibration is gone. I had to notch the shifter opening about 3/8" to get the shifter up through there.
