Hey all, I am trying to take apart my T-5 trany and I took the bell housing off the shift fork cover bolts off and the gear box to out put shaft box bolts off. well the prob I amhaving is that the shift forks are getting hung up on something it seems like. I don't know I can get the damn thing apart can anybody help me please.

yeah the shifter assy. comes apart, then tail housing comes off , then the top cover and shift forks as one, then take the pilot bearing retainer and etc. You should get a good manul from ttcautomotive.com or hanlon or something. If you have questions now, you will be totally lost later. just my .02 but with a good manual its cake.

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ or http://www.ddperformance.com for parts

A T5 rebuild kit with syncros, bearings and other small parts costs about $160. It does not include any gears or shafts.

http://cartapes.com also has a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. It costs less than $20, and is worth every penny of it.

I did a Tremec 3550 rebuild, and it wasn't that difficult. The video was an immense help, and I would recommend viewing it. At $20, it will give you an opportunity to look and decide for yourself if you think that it is something you want to try to do.

You just have that on permanent copy/paste don't you??

i just got done rebuilding mine 2 days ago, the t5 rebuild vid helps a lot. make sure it's in neutural, you can check by grabbing both front and rear shaft and turning both. if you already have the tailhousing off just jimmy the lid with a flathead. You must then slide the lid either to you or away from you depending on which way it's facing. it should then come right off.
