my t5 transmission grinds when you change gear first thru five

Check clutch adjustment. If it's ok (read zero lash or even preloaded for diagnostics), consider clutch failure.

How old is the t-5? I doubt it is syncro's if every gear is doing it. Hisson is correct with his clutch adjustment comment. Thats where I would start looking first.

its an 89 coupe origanal trans i will adjust clutch maybe it will work

if its the stock quadrant a cable setup, just pull up on the clutch pedal it should pop up some and then press it down again and viola its adjusted. if you have aftermarket cables and quadrants it more complicated. thats why you go to the links jrichker provided above
