dumb question but it seems it could work with the right exhaust manifold?

try 2 T3's. It will work a lot better.
Seriously, there are plenty of people that have built up twin turbo 5.0's with 2 T3's. They flip the stock exhaust manifold, and do a lot of custom fabrication for the exhaust and intake. I may consider this after I get out of college and have a real job.

well i have the 2.3t motor already in the garage but its gonna be a hassle tryin to get all the right lines and all to swap it in. so im jus going to sell it/trade for a 5.0

Since someone brung the topic up

Is a turbo on a 5.0L worth the money to do it I mean you have to buy a kit for like 3-3.5k and all I seen them run is like 5-7 psi of boost. Now I'm not sure if these boost setting is just a select few and others run higher amounts like 15lbs. Isn't it 1lbs of boost equals 10 hp? If so thats only 50-70 hp for 3000.00 to 3500.00. If so wouldn't it be better to just buy a Centrifical charger and get 90-100 hp for like 1500.00- 2500.00 ? This is just a rough guess on all numbers and I'm just wondering if its really worth the trouble and cost

You get MORE hp per PSI with a TURBO than a S/C.

The S/C robs way more power in the belt than a turbo does with backpressure.

Most of those kits are entry level, and believe me, those turbos CAN be cranked up nicely.

I understand the advantages and disadvantages of a S/C vs a turbo. What I'm aksing is this, is it worth the cost of a turbo kit?

This is the way I'm seeing it, you pay 3500.00 for 70-100hp gain on a turbo and 1000-2500.00 for 70- 100hp gain on a SC. To me I would rather put up with the disadantages of a SC and save 1000.00-2500.00 than to go with a turbo. That 1000.00 -2500.00 I would save could go towards a nice set of heads for it or a stroker kit. Now if money was no object, than hell ya I would go all out with a turbo etc.

I understand the disadvantages and advantages of a turbo I own a few of them I just think the cost would be more than the gain would be thats all. If the turbo kit cost 3500.00 and if you have to rebuild the engine for lower compression pistons along with hardned exhaust seats on the head I'm guessing around 5000.00 to do go the turbo way on a 5.0L . That paxton (which I can get a used rebuilt one for a grand) and stroker kit is loooking really good to me ATM I'm sorry I'm just a tight a$$ thats all

Boost is boost...

You dont have to lower compression for a turbo any less than for a supercharger.

I am not understanding you, are you saying a Turbo is MORE money to get started with off the bat, meaning engine modifications and what not?

That is absolutely NOT TRUE, as I said, BOOST is BOOST. No matter WHAT the power adder is.

I did my TWIN turbos for just under $1k last year, the current re-build up is going to cost me $0 and will be even more efficient that last years design.

If you got the know-how or the time and patients, you can do it too.

Ok, so why are you looking at list prices for ready made kits then? I bet you could twin turbo a 5.0 for less than a grand. Matter of fact, I bet you could do it for less than 500 if you already had a suitable fuel system and such.
