Hey guys, my buddy with a 97 GT just had his T45 finally let go on him. He's not looking to upgrade to a TKO or anything like that. Anyhow I found a used T45 out of a 99 GT for cheaper than it would cost for him to get his rebuilt. My question is since the 99+ stangs were electronically speedo driven, does the T45 from the 99 GT have mechanical pickups for the mechanically driven GT my buddy has? thanks for helping clear this up.

your t-45 in your buddies car is not mechanicaly driven. it uses a similar vss sensor that is all electronic.. the older fox cars had a elec connector and a cable that ran up too the cluster. the sn 95 cars do not have this.

some people think because the readout on the cluster is the analog style that a cable must be driving it. a lot of fords still used a analog readout for mileage but in fact there is no cable the computer controls that readout. the only difference is the 99+ cars use a digital readout.

look at the connector on the vss for the 99+ t-45.. it should be the same.. if not just remove the one fromt he blown t-45 and call it a day.
