I have an 88 GT that I bought that sat for 2 years with a blown head gasket. I just got it running. I took it for a drive and the transmission is noisy, a lot of rattles going on. The biggest issue is it started grinding in neutral when I was shifting at about 60 mph. It sounded like grinding gears. Tried pushing the clutch in, but it kept grinding. I tried all of the gears but it kept doing it. When I took off in 1st it was OK, but ended up doing it again a few minutes later. It has a firewall clutch adjuster. Does it sound like the clutch is out of adjustment or am I looking at pulling the tranny and taking a look inside?
