Looking for in-depth info on Tremec/Borg Warner T5 parts.

I have "3" T5s torn apart and I'm looking to assemble at least 1. 2 cases are World Class, 2 of 3 main shafts are WC. I have a (2.95 I think) counter shaft, did they make non-WC 2.95s? I'm having a hard time finding correct bearings for front and rear counter shaft, if this works with my NC case and main shaft.

My parts were given to me in multiple totes from someone else's collection. Most gears are new or like-new condition.

Does anyone have a good link to sort out my parts mess?

The web is littered with info on them, although I am not sure of a website that has everything you need in one place. Do you need you purchase any parts? If so, Tony at Astro has helped me and I have heard great things about the gearbox and and Hanlon. If you are purchasing parts I would think any of these guys would be willing to help you.

I don't know of any one internet resource that lists out all the info you ask. The info is out there, but it's scattered around.

Here's the basic t-5 rebuild manual.
http://www.allfordmustangs.com/techarticles/t5rebuildmanual.pdf

Pretty much after 1985 and a half, all T-5's were world class, including the 4 cyl. Just refers to the syncho blocker ring materials and types of bearings used.

To ID the countershafts, there's a 3 digit code stamped on them. A quick google search will tell you what they are do and what the matching gear's should be. Each gear will have a part number stamped on it. Something like 1352-080-xxxx. That last number will also tell you what you have.

The bearings are typical off-the-shelf style bearings that can be ordered online and nor specifically from a trans place. I can see if I can grab a p/n off one of my disassembled t-5's at home later today.

http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ and https://www.astroperformance.com/ are good resources as well

Thanks guys.

I have a mix of parts from NWC and WC. 2 main shafts have needle bearings and one is the grooved NWC shaft.

I have syncros and blocker rings from a mix of both. The guy used to work at a trans shop so there is everything I need plus some extra I just need to figure out where it all goes. The only parts that are stopping me from building 3 complete transmissions are 1 NWC case, 2 tail shafts and 2 counter shafts (plus some bearings.)

I printed off the Tremec manual and it makes some good sense, Astro has a good deal of info as well as some other places but Im having a hard time with the rear countershaft bearings. The countershaft I have has a roller (non-taper) bearing on the rear and the outer race is too small for my case. I do have the LM67048 bearing for the front. From what I can tell so far, that bearing is supposed to be used for front and rear of the counter shaft but doesnt fit mine. I cant find anything that states which counter shafts are WC vs NWC.

That's how I have it laid out and the bottom pic is how I bought it

Possibly an aftermarket part number.

There are two different 2.95 gear sets. There's a non-WC gearset (82-83 Mustang and 82-87 f-body) and then there was the version used in the T-5Z that was world class.

I believe the non-WC gearset would be marked 053, and the WC gearset would be 070

I've ordered parts from this site as well. They have some good info which might help you

Definitelty a mix of parts. The gears that are a lighter shade of gray may be aftermarket gears. The darker ones look factory. Any of the OEM/BorgWarner gears will have a 1352-080-XXX number on them.

The countergear looks aftermarket to me, as well as those two lighter gears sitting next to each other. Theyr engagement teeth look odd, but I admit I haven't town down a non-WC t-5. I'd say if you were to isolate the "light gray" gears, you could possibly find yourself with a gearset. Now, what it's from or for? Hard to say.

That's a pretty good score of parts though.

Thanks for all of the info guys. So far I have a much better understanding of what I need to do. I will need a counter shaft for a 3.35 ratio.

I think the tooth count should be 34/31/23/15/15 for the counter shaft. PN 1352-077-052

I see they also offer a 37/32/23/15/14 but it looks like they are only for SVO/4cyl/S10 PN 1352-085-020

My mainshaft gear count (from front to output shaft end) 27/30/32/34/27 Reverse. I have a 23 and a 24 tooth input shaft.

Any input on which countershaft I should go with?

If selecting the 3.35 1st, you want a 90-93 spec gearset. I don't have the countergear number off hand but it's in the links I posed above
