Was wondering if someone could give me a rundown on jerking a t5 out of my 94. I got the shifter off and the motor is out.

so is it down to pulling the driveshaft off and the tranny mount.

what is involved with the tranny mount, how many bolts to remove etc etc.

I also have all the exhuast out of the way as well.

thanks for the help.

make sure you drain the trans first as it will otherwise leak out the tailshaft. make sure the reverse switch is unplugged and the speedo sensor and gear are out. plus what the last guy said.

oh, and take the trans off of the bellhousing. dont try to pull the housing with it as a unit. i used to do it that way in my truck when changing clutches. it just doesnt work in the mustangs. not enough room.

The driveshaft has 4 bolts, 12 mm 12 point. Be sure and mark the DS with rearend so you can put it back like before. Drop the back down and slide it toward the back of the car and pull it out of the transmission. The cross member just has 2 bolts holding it in. Get a jack under it before you pull these 2. It sounds like that is all that will be holding it in at this point. Undo the 2 wiring harnesses and here it comes.

marking driveshaft

So as far as marking the driveshaft goes, just mark it wherever on the driveshaft than directly across that mark on the rear end or what??

What do you do when your installing a new driveshaft, cuz I thought about gettin an aluminum one, while it was out. How does it line up, with no marks??

So once the driveshaft is off, I will unhook the reverse and speedo sensors.

Than when I take the two bolts out of the cross member, the whole thing will come down right. Cuz that tranny mount is bolted to the crossmember if I remember correctly.

thanks for the help!!

Yep, mark it on both sides where it bolts up, so you can get it back on in the same position.

When you yank the driveshaft out, it's handy to have a spare yoke to shove in the tranny to keep the fluid from running out the tail.

The aluminum ones are generally very neutrally balanced as manufactured. If you want, you can try it in several positions to see what works best for you, but it's likely that your first try will be good enough.

Yep, that's all that's holding the tranny in at that point, when the two bolts come out she's coming down. An extra set of hands is useful if you're using a floorjack to lower it.
