i dropped a motor and t5 out of a wrecked car only to get it all on road and notice crack in output housing of trans, it leaks bad and onto the exhaust and smokes like its on fire. i got new output housing and seal and am having a heck of a time removing the two top bolts that connect trans to the bellhousing. Any tips or tricks?? can i drop trans down and slide housing off and put new one on? any help greatly appreciated--:

Trans..to bell? They shouldn't be any problem. Are yours too tight? Or you can't get a socket/wrench on it?

If you unbolt the crossmember, you should be able to tilt the engine/trans down some to give you a little clearance to reach between the trans and the trans tunnel. Usually the hard ones to get to are the top two bellhousing to block bolts.

I've always used several extensions to put the rachet back by the tailshaft housing and never had a problem removing the upper bolts.

Good luck on it.

yes the nuts are too tight and they are hard to get a socket around, i've went thru two u joint sockets- the top two are the ones, they go into bellhousing--the bottom two were also extremely tight but managed to get off with a breaker bar

Yea, I remember those bolts... In my case I had just one bad seed that I ended up using a mini air die grinder on the head of the bolt. Be careful not to hit the tranny! Since the tranny side is not threaded, once the head of the bolt is off the tranny will slide back and off. You can then get the rest of the bolt out the bellhousing and go to napa and find a replacement.

Make sure you are using impact grade extensions and sockets. The regular "chrome" style extensions will actually twist a little bit not allowing you to get all the torque to the bolts. I like to use a impact swivel socket on a long extension and then use a breaker bar to break them lose.
