I am putiing a T5 in this weekend. Went to the Ford place to pick up the speedo gear. It is much smaller than the hole it gos in. Does the cable have a shroud or casing that holds it or do I need to exchange it?

Thanks!

Huh?

The gear should slip onto the end of your speedo cable. It should be roughly the same size as your old one.

I have never looked at one before. I'll pull the C4 gear out and look.

The gear is supposed to be smaller than the end of the cable that fits in the hole. I just re-used my old C4 gear in my T5. Did you change your rearend gear ratio, or did you just want to use a new gear?

It did not occur to me that I could use the old gear. For 7 bucks I'll go ahead and put in a new one.

Thanks!

True. Can't hurt to replace the old one. Just be sure the new gear has the right number of teeth.

And make sure it's a RH one (teeth angled bottom left to top right as you look at it sideways with the cable end up. The C4, C6 and T5 are RH teeth, the T10, toploader and 3.03 are LH threads.
