Im fairly certain its something to do with the Neutral safety switch, or Starter.

There is a harness on the transmission that contains the wires for the reverse and i believe it holds the neutral safety wires as well. I dont have this harness, so is this my problem? I tried bypassing the Neutral Safety switch by reinstalling the jumper wire back on the black plug under the dash but this didnt work. Am i missing something? If i get that harness for the tranny should it work for me?

the neutral safety wires are a white/pink wire and a red/light blue wire at the neutral safety switch in a 88 automatic connect these 2 to bypass the neutral safety switch and attempt to crank but i would recommend to install a neutral safety switch.or is this what you did...

Dont attempt to make the NSS work if you're using the stock AOD computer because you'll have idle issues. I found that out the hard way after I tried to hook everything up just like factory.

Ok seriously guys i need some help. Im getting all kinds of input and i dont know which is right and wrong. Ive heard my car wont start until i get the harness that plugs into my tranny. Then ive heard all i need to do is connect the white/pink wire to the red/light blue wire and this will bypass the NSS and it should be fine? So what gives?

I have connected all plugs to the clutch assembly and i have no start. Im assuming all i need to do is connect those 2 wire is this correct? Thats all i need to know thanks ahead of time!!

got your pm i circled what needs to be bypassed in the schematic....you can see the wire colors....but i would do this just to see if it will crank and not a permanent thing...let us know the outcome...

i don't understand you should hot have anything plugged into the neutral safety switch on the side of the clutch pedal,if you don't have the manual wire harness...

also in this link chobracobra explains exactly how wire neutral safety switch and with the push button switch you have a good anti theft system if you hide push button...straight wiring or splicing wires together will leave the circuit closed meaning the car can be cranked in gear without pushing the clutch in, causing car to jump forward and possibly hit the car in the parking space in front of you ....but the push button will remind you to push the clutch in to crank because it won't crank unless button is pushed....thus not hitting the car in the parking space in front of you...click on link below...
