T5 Tranny Problems

I just replaced the clutch on my 1995 GT, and now I'm having some weird issues. The clutch works great, and the gears switch awesome. Only one problem. There is A LOT of play in the shifter. Any ideas?? Any help would be most greatful. Thanks!!

dont know what all you R/R'd or how, but one thought: there is a plastic bushing on the bottom of the shifter (on the bottom end of the shifter handle - it goes into the trans coupling). could that have fallen out while doing the clutch?

that could create some slop.

Solution

I found the problem. There is a steel piece that 'hugs' the shifter down to where it's bolted to the tranny...I had lost that piece and therefore, didn't realize it was missing at the time of installation. I found it last night and reinstalled it. Works great now. Thanks!!
