Ever since I put my new center console in, my tachometer has been tripping out. If it's in gear, it's fine. If I'm stopped, it's fine. But when I'm rolling and it's not in gear, it jumps to ~1200rpm then drops to 1000rpm, and does this continuously.

I think it has something to do with my speed cal. My speedo stops working around 40-45mph. Before, when the speed cal wasn't hooked up, this wasn't an issue.

I recorded it on video so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. Sorry, it's not the best of quality, but it depicts what's happening.

Any advice is much appreciated, thank you all very much.

Since the problem started with the Speed Cal I'd look there 1st. Make sure all of the connections are OK and the switches are in the right positions. Did the speedo work OK before the center console was installed? I'm confused on the sequence of events since you state two different problems at two different times.

The speedo worked perfect in November 2007 when I put her down for storage. She was broken into a few days after March 6th, 2008, while in her last few days of storage. They stole just the center console. When doing that, it appears that they ripped the wires for the speed cal and alarm system. While the speed cal was disconnected, my speedometer obviously did not work. As soon as we installed the new center console, we connected the speed cal back up to the cigarette lighter harness (by soldering, not a quick-connect) and it appeared to work, but then it dropped off at around 45mph.

I guess I could just uninstall it, and have DM replace it under warranty...but on the other hand, if it's a quick and easy fix, then why bother with uninstalling it!

Sounds like it got funked up somewhere.

The tach was working before the console was installed? Even after the old one was ripped out?

Before center console was stolen - speedo worked; tach worked
After center console was stolen - speedo broken; tach worked
After center console was installed - speedo works sometimes, but never after 45mph; tach freaks out when rolling, but seems fine under load and idling
