I'm looking to buy and mount a tach in my 68 coupe, 302 4v, and would appreciate some suggestions as to brands and where to put it. I've searched the threads but come up empty. Any help out there? Pix would be nice too but not necessary. Thanks.

Sorry, Summit does not have a direct link. Go here:

http://store.summitracing.com/

and then go to the Tach section. There are a bunch to choose from.

Many local parts houses stock gauges and tachs, just look around where you're at. The small 2-3in tachs fit nicely on the steering column between the factory in dash gauges.

I had not noticed. Old Alfred has got me reliving the '60's. Here is a pretty cool site:

You got to love those Fords that were on the show.

I bought a Sun Super Tach II on ebay and it came with a curved mounting plate attached to it. I put a rubber piece around the steering column and a hose clamp holds it in place. Works just fine and I can still see all the original lites/gauges on the dash.

I have a crappy little $50 tach and mounted on the steering column with a hose clamp and some vulcanized rubber to prevent it from scratching the paint. Works fine for me.

(the reason the picture is so dark is because my car is currently under a car cover )

Hey bud4660, I'm confused. I see three pedals and an automatic shifter. What's up with that?

Its a C6 with a clutch....

Not really. It is a factory 4 speed car thats has a C6 in it now. I started to take the pedal out, but thought I might put the 4 speed back in it one day... Check out the pictures in the link. Thats a year worth of work so far. Motor is getting ready to go to the machine shop next week.

I took a different approach; mounting a 2" Sun on the dash speaker panel using one of the panel screws. It is very visible to you there. I had to run the wires through the defroster plumbing but that was easy. I currently have a '65 convert. but IIRC I did the same thing on my '67 A code some years ago.

I guess thats for me. It doesnt have a parking brake that works. Other than that it is street legal. It draws to much attention from the cops to drive it much. The rears are 29x18.5x15 on 16" wide wheels. I'm thinking about wheelie bars.....

Someone had a picture of some gauges mounted on their A pillar - don't know if a tach was one of them...
