Yea, another tach wiring thread. I have an autometer tach and I can't seem to get it to work. I know there is a tan/yellow wire coming from the coil that is what your supposed to hook the green wire coming out of the tach up to, well where is that wire back behind the gauges? I want to just splice into the same one that feeds my stock tach. I found a couple that are the same colors, but they aren't working. Can someone please tell me the exact wire and where it's located at behind the gauges? Thanks!

I tapped into the tan wire with a yellow stripe for my shift light. Im assuming it would be the same for a tach. BUT Ive heard that some people get bad reading if they splice behind the cluster but dont if they plice it at the computer.

on my 88 this is what I did

Green on the tach went to the Green on the tach wire from the coil

Ground on the tach went to a self tapping screw I put in the metal dash frame

red on the tach went to a switched power in the fuse pannel

white on the tach went to the dimmer switch fuse in the fuse pannel
