hey guys, i was thinking about ordering these . before you go ape **** about how ugly they are, and admittedly so. i was thinking about getting them and doing this and use that black tailight tint to spray the top half of the light leaving the clear at the bottom. the finished product should look exactly like this which i think looks pretty freaking awesome. i'm not asking for opinions, just whether or not opening the tail light, spraying the top, and re-glueing it would work?

That would make me a little nervous because you could always get a leak. but if that dose happen you will have the stockers for backup.

Also you could always just spray the outside of them like some have.

Leaks and condensation would be my greatest worry.

The modified pic doesn't look half bad. Where is the turn signal? Is it in the clear section below like on the 99/01 cobras?? If so i think that might look pretty decent

i'm pretty sure he just has the altezzas http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2206515/5 and it just looks completely dark because of an overcast sky or something. maybe i'll just get them and move to washington state. but seriously, if i do open them up and do that couldnt i just get some additional silicone sealent and seal that puppy up really nicely?

thats exactly what youre supposed to do.

we did my buddies 06 wrx headlights last weekend. did the housings satin black and it came out awesome.

we stuck the oven to 320*, let them sit in for 12-15 minutes till the silicone begame glue once again, then pried the lens from the housing. then sprayed where he wanted. we then put a nice bead of silicone around the whole edge, and re-applied the lens. as long as you seal it right, you should have no problems.

though i dont know if the tails are a silicone or an epoxy sealant. if its epoxy, its ALOT harder to get pliable than silicone, because it has a higher melting point, and its close to the point at which the plastic lens and housing will also become soft and possibly damaged. we tried my buddies 05 SRT4 headlights, but they were epoxy and we gave up after a half hour at 400* and the epoxy was barely soft but the plastic clips that attached to the car were very bendable.

"Oh yeah and the taillights will be tinted medium black to match the scheme but the reverse light will be left clear for visiblity purposes."

This was on the bottom of page four of his cardomain.
