well i had a 1/2" crack in my passenger taillight so i got another one...and well its a different color the car will be black sometime next year maybe not till the winter though anyways i am painting them black....my question was after i paint it black would it be a good idea to pull the tape and clear the whole light...my lenses look dull and it bothers me...would it help bring some glare to it or would it just seal the dull lenses and look terriable??

I polished some headlights from an old Daytona I had and they came out good.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for...

I know what you mean, mine are looking a bit dull too these days.
Tint and clear them Thats what I'm gonna do.

Polish the lenses first, then tape and paint them. You will be very surprised how well polishing the lenses with plastic polish works, they will look like new. I wouldn't clear them, it eventually flakes off then its a PITA to get it off. I had a thread about polishing headlights a while back and detailed how I did it, the same process applies to the tail lights.
